One city, several districts, one kind of letter
Colorado Springs School District 11 covers much of the city. Academy District 20 covers a large part of the north, including the Air Force Academy area. Fountain-Fort Carson District 8 serves families near Fort Carson. Harrison District 2, Widefield District 3, and Falcon District 49 cover other parts of the metro. A house in Briargate and a house in the Old North End are not in the same district. Both can still receive a READ plan.
The letter means the school assessed reading in kindergarten through third grade, gathered more evidence, and found a significant reading deficiency. It sets up school support. It does not diagnose dyslexia, and it does not travel as a Colorado plan if you move to another state. Military families around Fort Carson, Peterson Space Force Base, and the Academy run into that often. A video session can continue while you live in Colorado, including when you change houses inside the state. A move out of Colorado is a license question, and we will say so before you go.
What we do on video, and what we do not claim
The session looks at phonological awareness, decoding, spelling, and language comprehension. We can screen the skills that sit under dyslexia. We refer for a full psychoeducational evaluation when a formal identification is what you need. Therapy can start before that report exists. We will also tell you if the school plan is enough.
We do not have a Colorado Springs office, and we will not quote a drive to Greeley as the way to get here. The clinic is at 4645 18th St, Ste #200, in west Greeley, for families who already live close enough to come in. Everyone else in the Springs is on video. The law is explained on the Colorado reading page. Denver families have a different district picture on the Denver page. The service itself is on the reading and literacy page.
Request a reading consultation and name the district on the letter. Call or text (720) 798-6930 if that is easier.
